Wow... just stepped out for a sandwich and got the full-on Swansea Winter Weather treatment. Well, perhaps not full-on, in that I didn't get soaked to the bone by mizzle, but it's certainly gusty out there. It makes my new view, over a small section of the Fulton House green and the trees beyond it, sway very prettily.

Yes, IT Wales has moved to the brand spanking new Digital Technium, which is so digital it doesn't even have a website. ;) The WDA's site features a blurb here.

And I have at last tried out the Google News Alert service - pretty dang impressive.

Hooray! I just spoke to my mummy - last time I heard her voice was about 2 months ago, so I am a happy bunny. :)

A perfect moment... I'm working in the lounge, and all about me the house is quiet and dark. To my left, I can hear the muffled sound of my neighbour playing his guitar, and singing songs that sound as if they're about love and sadness and solitude.

Understatement of the day: South Africa has a crime problem. From this article at BBC Online.

Update on Twist: "The movie's in the can! A new Independent South African film has been born, thanks to the courage, vision and commitment of the Associate Producers. All told we shot 21 days of 12 hours. During which time we shot 778 slates. We put 33000 foot of film through the camera. So it's in done. I'm beat, but incredibly happy. We hope to assemble a rough cut next week."

Thus spake Tim Greene on the Twist website, which also has the longest associate product credit title sequence in history - all 1,000 of them.

Ewww! I just discovered the source of the faintly chemical, slightly astringent smell that's permeated my office today; it's the dregs of a cup of honey and chamomile tea which appears to have been slowly fermenting this past week. In the words of the Crazy Monkey crew - following the extreme stunt of drinking orange juice immediately after brushing your teeth - : That's so gross!

And speaking of Crazy Monkey, I can't believe there's not a single bit of information about these guys online - not unless you count the comments on message boards for skater websites, or the odd reference discussing ad campaigns in South Africa, which assumes previous knowledge of the subject. What's going on here? If anyone knows anything about anything where Crazy Monkey is concerned, please let me know.

And so that I don't fall foul of pedants just like me, I will tell you what I know about Crazy Monkey, having seen the slots on MTV2: They're South African, and they take the piss out of Jackass, the show that features several overgrown boys doing fairly stupid things, and sustaining relatively high levels of personal injury in the process. Except the Crazy Monkey guys do stunts like 'foot skating', and 'eating cereal without milk', and 'trying on clothes even though you know you're not going to buy them'. Ah, class act, that. :)

Update: My BHS has raised just over £180! My target is £200... with any luck, I'll hit it without a problem.

Hey, I recently joined some societies at Swansea University. And at one society's social event earlier this week, I met a Belgian called Siegfried, who was overjoyed to hear that I speak Afrikaans, because, as we all know, Afrikaans and Flemish are eerily similar, and it means that we have the chance now to keep our respective language skills well-honed. It's been more than 2 years since I last conducted a conversation in Afrikaans, so the going was quite slow, but really really interesting. :)

The Big Head Shave is complete! I've raised about £160 and I think I've discovered the hairstyle that suits me best. ;-)

Pics are here.
